Before moving from San Francisco to New York City, these two lovebirds decided to get married and throw one heck of a party. It couldn’t have been a better way to say goodbye to the city they love and where they fell in love.

I first fell in love with Tara while photographing her sister’s wedding two years ago. She did a full choreographed hip-hop routine with her mom in a hotel room. It was amazing.

In addition to being amazing dancers, Tara and her man Ricky are warm, kind, and hospitable. At this point, I’m just hoping their family keeps throwing parties like this every year so I can come and take pictures and smile till my face hurts.

On a perfect Sunday afternoon, two obsessed-with-each-other lovebirds made the best decision of their lives. Emily + Paul started their day surrounded by an intimate group of friends + family in a dreamy meadow in Golden Gate Park and ended it with a dance party at Stable Cafe in the Mission. And somewhere along the way, there was a cable car, a quick jog through the streets of the Mission, and of course, sparklers.

Every moment of the day was so perfectly them – and I love how the city where they fell in love played such an important role on their wedding day.

I could photograph these two every day and be the happiest. Here are some of my favorite photographs from this special day:

When these friends-that-feel-like-family asked me to shoot their wedding, I’m pretty sure my face did all happy emojis in a span of 10 seconds.

I don’t have words to properly express how wonderful Natalie + Corey’s wedding was and the honor I felt to capture it.

Not only are these two band-mates and musical BFFs with my husband (shoutout to BRANCHES … they are also two of the most loyal friends we’ve ever known. Natalie + Corey are living, breathing creatives who know how to juggle silliness and sincerity like few others. When their special day came around, they managed to fill a gorgeous warehouse venue in downtown LA with 150+ of the world’s-most-fun humans (and a life-size cut out of Nicholas Cage) for tacos, dancing, and “I-do”s.

In all of the fun and all of the romance, the best part was that their day felt like “them”, which made me a happy photographer…but more importantly, a happy friend.

yes the Giants beat the Rockies 10-5

yes the Warriors beat OKC 108-101

yes the weather was perfection with a light breeze that gave the bride her own Beyonce moment.

and although Julianne wore her lucky Snoop Dogg t-shirt while getting ready, this couple didn’t need any luck. the day was perfect enough without it. the best people had the best day ever (and I’m so glad I was there to take photos!)

I’ve seen thousands of amazing moments so far this wedding season, but what happened during their wedding reception was one for the books. Our beloved Warriors were in game 6 trying to close out OKC and advance to the finals. This is what fourth quarter of a game ending at 108-101 (GSW) looks like.

My husband + I are big fans of the whole  “love thy neighbor” thing … but I never imagined that a friendship with the couple-next-door would lead to an opportunity for me to “photograph my neighbor”

On the day Tyler + I first moved in to our current apartment, we met Mike + Angela, and were so thankful to have a fun-loving, beer-drinking young couple next door. Mike + Angela enjoy life, adore each other and love this beautiful city we live in – so it was no surprise to me when they decided to have an intimate local wedding at San Francisco City Hall, followed-up by beers at a favorite spot around the corner.

The ‘getting-ready photos’ set a new record for me for ‘shortest distance traveled for a shoot’. I walked out my back door, down one flight of stairs, and into Angela’s living room to join her and her mom for a slow and sweet morning of chatting, eating cold Chinese food and final touches of hair and make-up.

After their ceremony we explored the neighborhood, stopping by some of their favorite local spots. It was so special to shoot our neighborhood under such romantic conditions, but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves before my digital voice cracks with emotion..
